Having the entered the architectural profession in 1984, Alex P Gath established his own studio in 1999. The practice is CAD based with a collaborative approach to architecture and ensures that a local flavour is brought to all commissions and projects, from design to completion.
Collaboration allows the practice to remain agile, design led, responsive, efficient and thoroughly competitive, whilst punching well above it's weight and continuing to build on it's core values of flair, creativity and tenacity.

The practice wins planning consent for a substantial linked extension to provide 6 new double letting suites and facilities for the less mobile at the California Country Inn, located on one of the main gateways to the stunning South Hams coastline.

Thin end of the wedge or a positive move?
The Governments recently published Draft National Policy Framework has proved to be controversial, if not incendiary to some. It is an interesting document but not the declaration of an open season in the countryside in terms of development that has been suggested.....

Alex P Gath wins planning consent at appeal for a contemporary scheme on a period building within the Yealmpton Conservation Area - the Planning Inspectorate conclude that 'such a design approach would strike an appropriate balance whilst providing a high quality design solution that would enliven the streetscene'.

Planning for a greener future......
Following the submission of all planning and building regulation applications on-line for sometime, the practice has earned Government recognition of it's commitment to sustainability and reducing carbon emissions through the Planning Portal Carbon Pledge Initiative.

Alex attends the Cite de l'architecture exhibition at the Trocadero in Paris. Typically, the UK is playing 'catch-up' in terms of 'contemporary' residential architectural solutions when the French have been at it since the 1920's - the trend du jour..... hmmm.
